Sir Arthur Has Opinions
Tara on finding Sir Arthur as an abandoned kitten, living with a very talkative cat, and why his daily “conversations” are never staged.
Some cats meow back to you. Sir Arthur negotiates.
The famously talkative feline has built an audience online by doing what comes naturally: responding to plumbers, questioning houseguests, and reminding his humans exactly when breakfast, treats, and a hot water bottle are due.
We spoke with Tara about how she found Sir Arthur as an abandoned kitten, what it’s like living with a very opinionated cat, and why none of his daily “conversations” are ever staged.
When did you first realize he was unusually talkative, and how would you describe his personality in real life versus on camera?
Arthur was talkative as a kitten, that's how I found him abandoned, as I could hear him meowing.
A lot of your videos are just Arthur responding to people around the house. How much of that is spontaneous?
Arthur does this spontaneously without any prompting. He doesn't like other people being in his house.
Does that “old soul” energy show up in other ways at home? Any habits or routines that feel very Sir Arthur?
Arthur is a stickler for routines. He prompts us every day for his breakfast & a hot water bottle in the morning. At 7pm, he sits on the arm of the couch waiting for his evening treats.
Your videos are so fun to watch because the human side is present, the back-and-forth, the reactions, the timing. What do you do when filming to keep it fun without forcing it?
Every video is real life Arthur, and there is nothing staged or false. Every day, there are so many opportunities to record what he is up to. So it's not a chore at all. I'm glad I have the opportunity to share it with everyone.

Outside of Arthur, what do you do when you’re not filming talking cats?
I am a mother, wife, and business owner too, so I am pretty busy. My hobbies include CrossFit, music (I'm a musician), and of course, everything cat-related.
What’s the most unhinged or unexpected “conversation” Arthur has ever started?
When he began shouting at a large German Shepherd sitting at the end of our driveway. His owner told me he was friendly and liked cats. I had to tell him that Arthur didn't like dogs and that he was definitely ready for a fight. Thankfully, the dog got the memo and moved on.
