Mariah

Mariah is the resident cat at the Rosemary Branch Theatre, a pub theatre in North London. She first appeared outside the building on a freezing night in December 2025, and after making it clear she wasn't really interested in leaving, she became a theatre cat.

Today, Mariah spends her time around the Rosemary Branch, greeting regulars, accepting visitors, and relaxing in her own princess box at the bar. Some nights, there's even a queue to meet her.

How Mariah Found the Rosemary Branch

Mariah appeared outside the Rosemary Branch on a freezing night and seemed determined to stay. The team brought her inside, looked after her, and tried to find out where she had come from. But Mariah had made her own decision. So, the Rosemary Branch became home.

Life at the Theatre

The Rosemary Branch is part pub, part theatre, with performances happening upstairs and regulars gathering downstairs. Mariah fits somewhere in between. She spends her days around the building, finds comfortable places to settle, and has become a familiar face to staff, performers, regulars and audiences.

She's not especially interested in being the centre of attention, which hasn't stopped people from making her one. For Mariah, it's mostly just home.

The Princess Box

Mariah's princess box gives her a comfortable place to sit while keeping an eye on whatever is happening around the pub. It's also become one of the places visitors know to look when they come hoping to meet the Rosemary Branch's smallest resident.

Meeting Mariah

Not everyone comes to the Rosemary Branch specifically for the cat, but some definitely do. Mariah has developed her own little following among regulars and visitors, and on busy nights people sometimes queue for the chance to say hello. Whether Mariah is equally excited about every meeting is, naturally, up to Mariah.
